Guerrilla Girls

Guerrilla Girls is a group of anonymous feminist activists. They wear gorilla masks in public to conceal their identities.

This was a small but very informative exhibition in Whitechapel gallery. This project is based on responses to detailed questionnaires sent to over 400 directors of art museums and public galleries across Europe.

Feel free to take a virtual trip around the exhibition and look at some of the responses.

Poland features in a lot of them and for me as a female artist it was very important to get to know attitude in polish artistic world and see what I would be faced with if I remained in Poland. It was interesting how male art directors carefully picked their words and very much were diplomatic while female art directors put more effort into giving statistics and respond to answers in more detail. Good news is that there was roughly as equal amount of female art directors as male.
