Project continuation…

So I have finally done the drawing of the girl from the past as I have a set scene now so I know where to place her.

I was kind of dreading it as I haven’t animated a drawing before. So my drawing pad is out to face it with me. I decided to create a GIF in Photoshop of a cycling girl to make things faster I decided to edit only legs. I know its sounds lazy but there is so much more I need to focus on.

Once this is done I will have to place it with the animated bicycle that I created before. Like I have explained in my previous blogs the girl will be black and white and grey to look like it’s from the past.

Quick realisation that it will have to be imported to After Effects so background needs to be easy to remove. The more I practice the more proficient I get.

At first I was trying to place the video of the girl cycling with the moving bike and kind of synchronise it but it proved way too tricky.

So I went back to after effects to create a new composition with bike and girl together. I have skipped for now details like one of the legs should be on the other side of the bike. She will be cycling fast so it won’t be that noticeable.

Here is the outcome

And here is the version with the puppet doll running. She seems to be in a bit of a rush but timing can be adjusted later.

I have tested out different tones for the background for fun. I know it may not go well with the drawing but the drawing supposed to stand out from the scenes that are shot in the future. By the way I quite like this slideshow.

I absolutely enjoy the process of this project but the more I create the trickier it gets to keep up with different layers, compositions and things don’t always go as planned with digital packages in a sense that it may crash or if you misplace a file it gets messy. I hope the outcome will be worth it.

Next step drawing the cartoon girl in the rest of the scenes
