D&AD competition: development

I have decided to create a hand drawn animation. My audience are girls between 14-19 and I think this type of approach will catch their attention more. Also as a concept it will be better for me to present my idea. Here is a quick storyboard. Each scene presents a situation from school girls life that the energy released from weightlifting will help her with.

Here is what I have done so far.

Scene 1

I am still considering if I should maybe put this scene as last to then show where those stripes, the power, energy comes from. We will see.

This is the character I have created. I have used the colour palette pick from before: orange, magenta, blue. The shades may differ a bit. The challenge of this is that I need to draw the character in at least 4 frames. I will try to stick to 4-5 just to give an idea.

To save time I would just change her face expressions. Looks a little bit like Umpa Lumpa here. As her movements will be fast the face expressions may not be even noticeable.

All 4 positions needed to be the same size and be aligned together.

I have decided to add texture to the character so I used this grainy image and colour burn effect.

I may need to vectorise the images to give it better quality.

I have also reduced the saturation and played around bit too ha

Thats the final look:

There is also a background to be considered. I will try to redo each scene with bold shapes and still testing out colours.

Here is video of an idea not yet finished as I am working on the strips of energy still. This time stripes will have to have a path dictated by me. In the previous video they were randomly flying around.

Second scene in progress and I will update more progress soon.
